Hellboy 2 The Golden Army Film Wallpapers and Photos

Hellboy II: The Golden Army is a 2008 film directed by Guillermo del Toro. The film is a sequel to 2004’s Hellboy, also directed by Del Toro. Hellboy II: The Golden Army is written by Guillermo del Toro and Mike Mignola. Universal Pictures finances and distributes the film, which has a target release date for July 11, 2008.

In February 2007, Mignola described the story he had developed with del Toro as one that focused on folklore and fairy tales, rather than the more pulp elements of the first film.
It’s not Nazis, machines and mad scientists but the old gods and characters who have been kind of shoved out of our world. I kind of equate it to the whole American Indian situation.

The Indians were shoved onto reservations. You had your old, wise Indians who said, “You know, this is the way it is. We can’t fight anymore. We just have to accept our fate.” You then have your Geronimo character saying, “Or we could just kill the White Man.” That’s kind of the situation we have in the film.

We have our elf characters resigning to the way things are and then there’s one saying, “Or we could take the world back.” The main difference is – what if the Indians had a nuclear warhead? The elves have their equivalent of the weapon that is too terrible to use. What if this guy decided to use it?

In May 2004, the sequel to Hellboy entered development at Revolution Studios with the first film’s writer-director Guillermo del Toro returning with producers Lawrence Gordon, Mike Richardson, and Lloyd Levin. The comic book creator of Hellboy, Mike Mignola, was reported to develop a story with del Toro for the sequel, with actor Ron Perlman to reprise the role of Hellboy. The following September, del Toro expressed interest in making Hellboy into a trilogy with Mignola, with the first sequel slated for a 2006 release.

In August 2006, with Hellboy 2 being orphaned by the now-defunct Revolution Studios, the studio Universal Pictures acquired the project to be slotted for a summer 2008 release. Production was slated to begin in April 2007 in Budapest and London. del Toro, who had been in negotiations to film Halo, instead chose to stay with Hellboy 2 for “artistic and personal reasons.” In October 2006, del Toro shared his plan to recreate the classic versions of Frankenstein, Dracula and The Wolf Man. The director also reiterated plans for a third Hellboy to create a trilogy.

With the success of del Toro’s Pan’s Labyrinth (2006), the director was able to fast-track production of the sequel to Hellboy. Guillermo del Toro began filming Hellboy 2 in June 2007 in Budapest and will conclude in December 2007.The official trailer for Hellboy II will be available on Thursday, December 20th, at noon PST/3p.m. EST.

The Great Debaters Film Wallpapers

The Great Debaters is a 2007 film produced by Oprah Winfrey’s Harpo Productions. It is directed by Denzel Washington who also stars in the film along with Forest Whitaker, Kimberly Elise, Nate Parker, Gina Ravera, and Jurnee Smollett. The screenplay was written by Suzan-Lori Parks and Robert Eisele. It was released on December 25, 2007.

The film, based on a true story, revolves around the efforts of debate coach Melvin B. Tolson (Denzel Washington) at historically black Wiley College to place his team on equal footing with whites in the American south during the 1930s, when lynch mobs and Jim Crow laws abounded. The Wiley team eventually succeeds to the point at which they are able to take part in a debate with Harvard University.

As part of their tour, Wiley College’s debate team competed against University of Southern California’s team on the the USC campus in Bovard auditorium. This defeat has always been considered to be low point in the school’s history to the racist administration at USC. Thus they sought not to be included in the film.

In addition, according to the New York Times the “film omits one reality: even though they beat the reigning champions, the Great Debaters were not allowed to call themselves victors because they were not truly considered to belong to the debate society, But blacks were not truly allowed until after World War II.” The movie also explores the social milieu of the American South during the Great Depression including not only the day to day insults and slights African Americans had to endure, but also a lynching.

James L. Farmer, Jr. (played by Denzel Whitaker, no relation to Forest).), who was on Wileys’ debate team at 14 years old after completing high school (and who would later go on to co-found the Congress of Racial Equality) is also depicted.

The film was the first since 1979 to be allowed to film on Harvard’s campus. It is also the first film to feature two African Americans who had previously won the Academy Award for Best Actor (Denzel Washington for Training Day, and Forest Whitaker for The Last King of Scotland).

Remake rights to the Pang Brothers’ original 2002 Hong Kong film, The Eye, were purchased by Cruise/Wagner Productions, and their remake follows Naina, a Hindi movie released in 2005, that is also based on the Pang Brothers’ film.

The Hollywood remake was initially set to be produced by Paramount Pictures, with Renée Zellweger as star, and Hideo Nakata as director. However, after Tom Cruise and Sumner Redstone, chairman of Paramount-parent Viacom had a public falling-out in 2006, the film was picked up by Lions Gate Entertainment, which then gave the lead role to Jessica Alba and David Moreau and Xavier Palud were brought in as directors.

Production commenced in late 2006 and was continuing in August 2007, with some reshoots in Vancouver. Other filming locations included Albuquerque, New Mexico and Los Angeles, California.

Alba took six months of violin lessons to prepare for her role as a blind soloist. The music used in the teaser trailer is that of Blaqk Audio, a new electronic project featuring the lead singer Davey Havok and guitarist Jade Puget from rock group AFI. The two songs featured in the teaser are “Between Breaths (an XX perspective) and “The Love Letter” off their 2007 album debut CexCells.
