Iron Man 2008 Film Wallpapers

Iron Man is an upcoming 2008 superhero film based on the fictional Marvel Comics character Iron Man. The film is directed by Jon Favreau and stars Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, a billionaire industrialist who is captured by terrorists in Afghanistan. Ordered to build a missile, Stark uses his resources instead to build a suit of power armor and make his escape. Returning to America, Stark improves his armor and becomes the technologically advanced superhero Iron Man. Gwyneth Paltrow plays his secretary and love interest Virginia Potts, Terrence Howard plays jet pilot James Rhodes, and Jeff Bridges plays the villainous Obadiah Stane / Iron Monger.

The film began development at Universal Studios in 1990. 20th Century Fox earned the rights in 1996, before handing them over to New Line Cinema four years later. Marvel Studios reacquired the rights in 2006, and put it in production as their first self-financed film. Favreau signed on as director, aiming for a realistic feel, and chose to shoot the film primarily in California, rejecting the East Coast setting of the comics so as to differentiate the film from numerous superhero movies set in New York City-esque environments. Stan Winston Studios built the armor seen in the film, which is modeled after Adi Granov’s comic book art of the character; Granov himself started working on the film after recognizing his work on the director’s MySpace page.

Marvel and Paramount Pictures, the distributor, have planned a $50 million marketing campaign for the film, which is modeled on Paramount’s successful promotion of Transformers (2007); Hasbro and Sega will sell merchandise, and product placement deals were made with Audi and Burger King. Iron Man will be released on May 2, 2008, and the film’s stars have signed on for a sequel. Favreau had planned out a trilogy, depicting Stark’s alcoholism, Rhodes becoming War Machine, and the introduction of the Mandarin, whose presence is foreshadowed in this film. Downey is also reprising his role in The Incredible Hulk, as Marvel has plans for a film adaptation of The Avengers.

Premise: Weapons designer Tony Stark is in Afghanistan to introduce his new missile design to the Air Force until the unit he is traveling with is attacked and Stark is taken hostage. Injured by shrapnel embedded near his heart, he is ordered by his captors to assemble a missile for them, and they give him access to a workshop. He puts his creativity to use by assembling a bulletproof suit of power armor, complete with pacemaker and flamethrowers, and uses it to free himself. Back at home, he becomes Iron Man, developing a flying suit with the red and gold scheme and advanced weapon capabilities. Stark faces the Iron Monger.

Special effects: The Iron Man suit showcased in the film was inspired by Adi Granov’s artFavreau stated he wanted the film to feel believable, and key to this was seeing the full construction of the suit in its three stages. Iron Man comic book artist Adi Granov created the suit design with Phil Saunders, which was built by Stan Winston Studios. Granov’s designs were the primary inspiration for the film’s design, and he came on board the film after he recognized his work on Jon Favreau’s MySpace page. Armor designs by graphic artist Brandon Perlow were considered by Iron Man’s visual effects supervisor John Nelson but were later rejected.

Robert Downey Jr. will be involved with motion capture work eight months after the completion of filming in order to realistically portray the suited Iron Man’s movements. On May 14, 2007, Industrial Light & Magic was hired to create the bulk of the visual effects with additional work being completed by The Orphanage and The Embassy. Skywalker Sound will manage the audio production, while EFilm will do color timing and mastering.

Sequel: Director Jon Favreau said that the first film’s plot would not deal with Tony Stark’s personal problems, such as alcoholism. Favreau noted that if there were sequels, Tony Stark’s personal problems would be explored. Favreau plans Iron Man to be the first in a trilogy, with all the actors signed on. Favreau has also stated he would like to develop the Mandarin into a physical threat, or use Fin Fang Foom if he could fit the tone of the films.

In addition, Downey is reprising his role for a cameo appearance in The Incredible Hulk (2008). Favreau has also expressed interest in directing Downey as the character in an Avengers movie.

The film is planned for release on April 25, 2008 with John Cho and Kal Penn returning as the duo of stoners and Paula Garcés as Harold’s love interest Maria. Doomsday 2008 Film Wallpapers

Doomsday is an upcoming science fiction film written and directed by Neil Marshall. The film stars Rhona Mitra and Bob Hoskins. Doomsday is set to be released March 14, 2008 in the USA.

Doomsday takes place three decades after a lethal virus called the Reaper nearly wipes out Scotland and causes the rest of the world to wall off the country. When the Reaper begins to emerge in another country 25 years later, an elite team and their leader (Rhona Mitra) are sent to the contaminated landscape of Scotland to find a cure.

Director Neil Marshall originally came up with the idea of Doomsday by having a vision of “a futuristic action warrior fighting a knight in armor”. The story was inspired by post-apocalyptic thriller films that Marshall had grown up watching. He cited as influences the films Mad Max (1979), The Road Warrior (1981), Escape from New York (1981), Metalstorm (1983), The Warriors (1979), Excalibur (1981), and works of director Terry Gilliam like The Fisher King (1991). Rogue Pictures signed Marshall to direct Doomsday in October 2005, and in November 2006, actress Rhona Mitra was signed to star in Doomsday as the leader of the elite team. Production began on February 9, 2007 in South Africa.

On May 1, 2007, filming in the UK commenced at Scotland’s Blackness Castle for a ten-day shoot. Filming also took place in Cape Town and Glasgow. The majority of filming took place in South Africa, with several scenes filmed outside the country in Glasgow.

A massive car chase scene was also filmed for Doomsday, described by Marshall to be one part Mad Max, one part Bullitt (1968), and one part “something else entirely different”. The film also contains the director’s trademark gore and violence from previous films, including a scene where a character is cooked alive and eaten. Paul Hyett, the prosthetic make-up designer who worked on Marshall’s previous film The Descent, contributed to the production, researching diseases including sexually transmitted diseases to design the make-up for victims of the Reaper virus.

Cast:

  • Rhona Mitra as Eden Sinclair, the leader of the elite team sent to find a cure. The heroine was inspired by the character Snake Plissken.Mitra worked out and trained in fighting for eleven weeks for the film. Marshall described Mitra’s character as a soldier who has been rendered cold from her military indoctrination, and her journey to find the cure for the virus is one of redemption.
  • Bob Hoskins as Bill Nelson, a policeman who nominates Sinclair for the mission and monitors her progress.
  • Malcolm McDowell as Kane, a former scientist who found the cure for the virus and now lives as a feudal lord in an abandoned castle. McDowell described his character as a King Lear. According to Marshall, Kane is based on Kurtz from Joseph Conrad’s Heart of Darkness. The director originally sought to bring Sean Connery out of retirement to play Kane but was unsuccessful.
  • Craig Conway as Sol, the son of Kane and the leader of the Marauders, a renegade gang that was left behind in Scotland.
  • Alexander Siddig in an unnamed role.
  • Adrian Lester as McNaughton, The DSS Sergeant assigned to be Sinclair’s right arm.
Rick Warden as Chandler, A DSS Corporal. He is the member of the armoured division and designated APC driver.
  • Nora-Jane Noone as Read, A DSS soldier, she is the team mechanic and a designated APC driver.
  • Leslie Simpson as Carpenter, DSS Rifleman, his job is to protect the team from whatever lies beyond the walls.
  • Chris Robson as Miller, DSS Rifleman. His job is to protect the team from whatever lies beyond the wall.
  • Sean Pertwee as Doctor Talbot, part of the task force set up to study the reaper virus. He will do whatever it takes to find a cure, even if it means a journey into the heart of “no man’s land”.
