Traitor is a 2008 espionage thriller film, based on an idea by Steve Martin (who is also executive producing), and written and directed by Jeffrey Nachmanoff. It is being produced by Overture Films, and starring Don Cheadle as a US Army Special Forces Engineer Sergeant, and Guy Pearce as an FBI agent. Star Trek (2009)

Star Trek is a 2009 science fiction film directed by J. J. Abrams and written by Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman. It is the eleventh Star Trek film and a prequel to The Original Series, featuring characters such as Kirk (played by Chris Pine), Spock (Zachary Quinto), McCoy (Karl Urban), Scotty (Simon Pegg), Uhura (Zoe Saldana), Sulu (John Cho) and Chekov (Anton Yelchin). The film will also depict Kirk and Spock’s childhoods. Leonard Nimoy reprises his role as the older Spock, and Eric Bana appears as the villainous Nero. The film will be released on May 8, 2009 in North America.

Mirrors (2008)

 Mirrors is a 2008 remake of the 2003 South Korean horror film Into the Mirror, directed by Alexandre Aja and starring Kiefer Sutherland. Mirrors was first titled Into the Mirror, but later changed to Mirrors. The film began filming on May 1st, 2007, and is currently in post-production. The film will be released on August 15, 2008. According to director Aja, the film will carry a R rating by the MPAA for strong violence, disturbing images, language and brief nudity.

Quantum of Solace is the 22nd spy film in EON Productions’ James Bond film series, due for release in the United Kingdom on 31 October 2008 and in the United States on 7 November. It is the sequel to the 2006 film Casino Royale, which rebooted the series. It is directed by Marc Forster, and features Daniel Craig’s second performance as the fictional MI6 agent James Bond. Casino Royale’s Paul Haggis, Neal Purvis, and Robert Wade returned as writers, alongside newcomer Joshua Zetumer.

In the film, Bond battles Dominic Greene (Mathieu Amalric), a member of the Quantum organisation posing as an environmentalist, who intends to stage a coup d’état in Bolivia to take control of its water supply. Bond seeks revenge for the death of Vesper Lynd, and is assisted by Camille (Olga Kurylenko), who also wants to kill Greene. The title was chosen from an unrelated short story in Ian Fleming’s For Your Eyes Only (1960).

Producer Michael G. Wilson created the film’s story while Casino Royale was shooting. The film was originally scheduled for a 2 May 2008 release, but it was pushed back to allow more time when Roger Michell dropped out as director.

Second unit filming began in August 2007 at Siena and Madrid, before principal photography began in January 2008 at Pinewood Studios.

Production designer Dennis Gassner took over from Peter Lamont, who retired after working on eighteen Bond films. Gassner designed the five major Pinewood sets, which stand in for Siena, Bolivia, and the MI6 headquarters.

His designs are close to the modernism of Ken Adam, the first Bond production designer. Location filming will take place at Panama, Chile, Italy and Austria, before moving back to Pinewood in June.

There will be more gadgets than in Casino Royale, though they will still aim to be realistic.

Known by its working title, Big Hit in Bangkok, and also as Time to Kill, it began filming in Bangkok in August 2006, with locations that include Soi Cowboy.

The film follows a hitman (Cage) who goes to Bangkok on assignment. The original film’s main character is a deaf-mute whose disability makes him a fearless, unflinching gunman. That character has been changed in the remake.

“We’d like to keep him the same, but we understand that from a marketing point of view Nic needs to have some lines,” Oxide was quoted as saying in the International Herald Tribune. “So what we’re going to do is transform his girlfriend instead into a deaf-mute. This switch will maintain the drama of communication between the two main characters.”

Cage’s character’s girlfriend is portrayed by Hong Kong actress Charlie Yeung, who prepared for her role by learning Thai dance and sign language. In addition, Cage’s character will have a local “errand boy” with whom he develops a bond. That role is portrayed by Thai film and television actor Chakrit Yamnam.

The production was disrupted by the 2006 Thailand coup d’état, with producers temporarily suspending filming. They had hoped to complete the Bangkok production work by October 2006, but it might delayed further. Cage remained in Bangkok, though he had a private jet readied to depart the country in case of any threat. Production was eventually completed in October 2006. The film is due for release in the United States on August 22, 2008.

Step Brothers is an upcoming 2008 comedy directed by Adam McKay, produced by Knocked Up’s Judd Apatow, and starring Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly. The film will be released on July 25, 2008.

Ferrell and Reilly last teamed in the 2006 film Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby. The screenplay is by Ferrell and McKay from a story written by Ferrell, McKay, and Reilly. Jimmy Miller and Judd Apatow are producers of the film.

Brennan Huff, a sporadically employed thirty-nine-year-old, lives with his mother, Nancy. Dale Doback, a terminally unemployed forty-year-old lives with his father, Robert.

When Robert and Nancy marry and move in together, Brennan and Dale are forced to live with each other as step brothers. As their narcissism and downright aggressive laziness threaten to tear the family apart, these two middle-aged, immature, overgrown boys will orchestrate an insane, elaborate plan to bring their parents back together. To pull it off, they must form an unlikely bond that maybe, just maybe, will finally get them out of the house.

The Happening is a paranormal thriller in which a family must survive a global environmental crisis. The film will portray the earth’s vegetation unleashing airborne neurotoxins that cause all those who breathe it to commit violent suicide. The protagonist, a science teacher named Elliot Moore (Mark Wahlberg), goes on the run with his estranged wife (Zooey Deschanel) and friends as hysteria grips the planet.

Philadelphia high school science teacher Elliot Moore (Mark Wahlberg) and other people begin encountering breakdowns in human behavior in major American cities caused by the Earth’s vegetation releasing neurotoxins that, when inhaled, leads to chilling suicidal deaths.

Moore flees from the crisis into Pennsylvania farmlands with his estranged wife Alma (Zooey Deschanel). Along with them are Elliot’s friend and math teacher Julian (John Leguizamo) and his daughter, Jess (Ashlyn Sanchez).

In January 2007, writer-director M. Night Shyamalan traveled from Philadelphia to Hollywood to prepare the live-action film based on Avatar: The Last Airbender. Shyamalan submitted a spec script entitled The Green Effect to various studios, but none expressed enough interest to purchase the script.

The director collected ideas and notes from meetings, returning home to Philadelphia to rewrite the script, and 20th Century Fox greenlit the project. Now titled The Happening, the film will be produced by Shyamalan and Barry Mendel and will be the director’s first R-rated project. Shyamalan compared the film to the earlier paranoia films The Birds (1963) and Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956).

Later in March, actor Mark Wahlberg, with whom Shyamalan had been negotiating at the same time as his deal with Fox, was cast into the lead role of the $57 million project. Shyamalan had previously cast Wahlberg’s brother Donnie Wahlberg in The Sixth Sense. The India-based company UTV will co-finance 50% of the film’s budget and distribute the film in India, with Fox distributing in the rest of the territories. Production began in August in Philadelphia. The release date for The Happening is set for June 13, 2008, intentionally set for Friday the 13th to suit the thriller.

The score to The Happening was composed by Oscar-nominated composer James Newton Howard. He recorded his score with the Hollywood Studio Symphony at the Sony Scoring Stage with a 90-piece orchestra, and featured solos by cellist Maya Beiser. Varese Sarabande Records announced that they will be releasing the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack for The Happening on June 3, 2008.
